Welcome to the 2011-2012 School Year at Sequoyah Elementary!

On behalf of the Sequoyah Elementary Foundation (“SEF”), welcome to the 2011-2012 school year. As SEF President, I am privileged to lead our efforts towards financially supporting a complete academic environment at Sequoyah Elementary School (“SES”). Our goal is to aid all children with academic achievement and ultimately excellence.

To assist in our efforts, we appreciate the kind gifts that parents, teachers, families, friends, and community organizations have made since our initiation in 2006. In fact, over the last six years, we have raised over $650,000.  This year, after a comprehensive strategic and business planning initiative (which includes feedback from parents and teachers, among others),  the Board has elected to focus on providing personnel for reading enrichment, teaching assistants, technology support, school counseling, and our science lab. We are also supporting an iPad technology and education evaluation, professional development opportunities for our teachers, and continuing our computer replacement program to complement historical technology investments.

SEF raises funds in a number of different ways. However, we have one main event each year. This event, called our “Benefit,” includes a live and silent auction. We have scheduled this event for March 2, 2012. Please mark your calendars. The event promises to not only be a wonderful evening, but one that raises money that we can collectively invest in our children’s future!

In closing, please know that the SEF Board is here to serve you. If we can assist you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact a Board Member.

Respectfully,

Lyle Oelrich
SEF Board President
